Dear PubNighters,
Happy New Year! May 2013 bring you great fortune, love and a 6-pack set of abs. While drinking beer and communing at bars certainly will not help contribute to that washboard belly, perhaps it can help with the other things.
We have all witnessed how PubNight has contributed to financial opportunities as well as relationships, marriages and even children. I have been on the receiving, as well as offering end, of those boons of opportunity. PubNight is all-around awesome.
I have been absent the past few months from PubNight since the arrival of the newest and youngest PubNighter, Max Bacon. These past three months Ricky and I have been gearing him up, championship style, (cue Rocky music, "Gonna Fly Now"), for PubNights to come.
Some true facts about Max Bacon's bar history thus far:
1) Max has been to this week's PubNight bar, The Penny Farthing, while in utero. The Penny Farthing was the site of the first PubNight Babies gathering held this past summer. Madrid, Chrispy, Beth, Omar, Vineel, Stephanie and the Bacons are the founding parents.
2) Max's first official bar hang out was at PJ Ryans in Jersey City when he was 8 days old.
3) The day the lights came back on in Jersey City after Hurricane Sandy, the Bacons Three were at Barcade Jersey City. The applause that rung out that afternoon when the lights flickered on was really heartwarming. The taps had remained cold despite the outage.
4) Max has been kicked out of two bars already! PJ Ryans in Jersey City when he was a month old and the JWT bar on Lexington Avenue during a Movember celebration. He's a wild child!
5) He's an unofficial member of our team that plays Pub Quiz at the Hamilton Inn in Jersey City.
6) He might've been the youngest person to ever attend a Holiday PubNight. Smithfield NYC 2012!
Disclaimer: Max has never consumed a drop of alcohol.
So, another factoid, since my pregnancy and now that I nurse, I have not been drunk in over a year! Weird, I know. Tomorrow, for PubNight, please come join me, my kiddo, hubby and all the other PubNighters who have it in them to hang out the day after New Years. The following day, Jan 3, is my birthday. This will be my final year of 30-hood. Also, weird.
The Penny Farthing has decent food and about 16 beers on tap. This year marks my 13th year of PubNight. No wonder I don't have a ripped stomach. That, and the fact that I JUST HAD A BABY, might be contributors to the poor state of my midsection. Just saying.
See ya there,
Cindy, et al.
