The "30th birthday" PubNight email is not an easy one to write. I suspect my age won't garner me a lot of sympathy around here, and really, why should it? I'm happier and healthier than I've ever been, and I see no reason to regard "30" with disdain.
So this will be a celebration, not a lamentation.
Funny, then, that I should choose the site of one of the shittier days of "29" - the last time I was at this bar was the Friday that the NYC Marathon was cancelled. As I cried into my beer, I shit-drunkenly signed up for another marathon, and in the morning awoke to email confirmation that I'd really done it. Let's all make an effort to keep me from signing up for anything during PubNight, k?
