Choosing this week's PubNight location was a bit of a challenge. I couldn't come up with anyplace that fit the nationalist theme of the month and is conveniently located, reasonably priced and has an appropriate vibe...without actually putting in some time-consuming research (and maybe a few pre-PN visits.) I had some potentials, but they were all geographically undesirable.
Instead, we're heading to an Irish pub in the theater district -- West 50th Street between Broadway and 8th Ave -- to a place I've never been inside of, but that has looked interesting from the street since it opened: Emmett O'Lunney's. It looks like a clean, sanitary version of a neighborhood Irish pub. I think I might have insulted an entire ethnic group and a vast portion of the NYC hospitality industry in that description. It was unintended but, still, it looks comfortable and the food reviews are pretty good. And its location offers an abundance of nearby subway lines. Come out for a pint or two. Bring a friend.
