PubNight #932 (8/20/14) - Freddy's Bar

Previous PubNights PubNight Home

Tonight's email comes from Birthday Girl Leila!

A little older, a little wiser (one hopes), a bright shiny new decade. As you're able, please consider joining me tonight for my Birthday Pubnight at one of my favorite spots in Brooklyn (or anywhere actually) Freddy's Bar. Continuing what I started last year bringing Pubnight and music together in ways that honor the spirit of Pubnight, as Pubnight winds down those who so choose may elect to move to the back room for H.A.M. Karaoke (starts about 9:30, more or less Pubnight's bedtime these days.) Have faith Pubnight, I promise this will work. Humans Against Music Karaoke is one of my favorite nights at Freddy's. Run by H. Bomb (Heather McCabe) and Tokyo Rosenburg (Tony Limocio - who some of you know from Brooklyn knitting meet up), H.A.M. is a monthly event with enough impressive performances to keep it enjoyable and just enough off performances to keep self consciousness at bay and make it easy to relax and enjoy trying out a new song. The back room is separated enough from the front that sometimes folks in the front don't know it's happening at all, so Pubnight can draw to it's natural conclusion whenever the time is right. Which of course is a little earlier than it used to be what with everyone getting on in years, not just me ; p.
