Back to Soho this week, and the aptly-named Room. It was this day in 1986 that Popsicle announced its plan to end the traditional twin-stick frozen treat for a flatter, one-stick model. That explains everything.
This week, we wish a Happy Birthday to Stan (3/9) and Dan Piltch (3/15), each born to Mr. & Mrs. Piltch, although several years apart. Stan is my uncle's brother (and my cousin's uncle). Dan is my uncle's nephew. It's also the birthday of Doc Ellis (3/11) and Leroy Ellis (3/0), but, as far as I know, they has no relation to Laura (Doc was a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Leroy Ellis played basketball for some team). Yesterday was the anniversary of Alexander Graham Bell's "Come Here, Watson" statement that eventually brought about voice mail, busy signals, and call waiting. And, topping the charts 11 years ago - "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi.
This Friday, Laura and I are headed to England & Scotland for a relaxing, beer-, ale- and scotch-filled week. So, next week, you are all in the capable hands of Petro. Speaking of Petro, go see his play (or at least ask him about it). It's a Gilbert & Sullivan number. Speaking of Sullivan, that's where we're going tonight:
See you there (let's say 8:30),
