Back to the Pub Night home page
Due to the threat of rain tonight, we have postponed tonight's original plan (I won't give it away, but it did involve a ferry ride) to next week. This week, however, we will be going to a newly opened bar in the East Village - Barmacy. A review follows below. NYU students are back and almost in full force, so the local bars will only get more crowded.
Karen & David have started their cross-country check. You can keep up with them at:

"Another inspired creation from the people who brought you Beauty Bar, Barmacy embodies the kitsch aesthetic and subversive humor that has been dwindling in the East Village. It's a renovated pharmacy, complete with medicine cabinets filled with elixirs and ointments from forgotten years, drinks served in beakers, waitresses in nurse costumes, and a fully functional concession stand. The space consists of two decent-sized rooms with very shiny new bathrooms in between. In the front room, the bar serves tonics and other concoctions to the not-so-patient patrons. The back room is furnished with tables, a DJ booth, and enough space for dancing. Guest DJs spin anything from drum 'n' bass to reggae on specific nights. Definitely investigate this spot before it's overwhelmed by fans."--Christa Toole
We'll be there tonight around 8:00. You'll probably want to get dinner first. I don't know if the concession stand has real food.
See you tonight,
- stuart
