Back to the Pub Night home page
This week's reasons for celebrating:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Candy !!!! (10/11)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Gregg !!!! (10/10)
HAPPY YOM KIPPUR !!!! (10/11)
You knew it was coming. I warned you several times. And tomorrow (tonight?) is possibly the last warm Wednesday of the year. So, yes, we are really going to Staten Island. We can't really have a New York City PubNight without hitting all five boroughs. At least it's not February, right? Let's plan on going relatively early this time.
Q: OK, enough excuses. Where are we going?
A: Our own Tom, who lives in Staten Island (really) has recommended the Cargo Cafe (right near the ferry terminal):
Q: Fine, I'll come. How do I get there?
A: Take the Staten Island Ferry, of course. It's free now. That's right - no cost to you.
Q: How do I get to the ferry?
A: Take the subway:
Q: How often does the ferry run (sail)?
A: Boats leave at 7:00, 7:20, 7:40, then every half hour from 8:00 - 11:30pm, then they leave every hour on the half hour from Manhattan, every hour on thehour from Staten Island. Ride is free.
Q: I'm afraid to go to Staten Island alone. Can we please meet in Manhattan and travel together?
A: Of course. Your safety is our primary concern. Let's plan on meeting at 7:00 upstairs on the outside balcony above the "Staten Island Ferry" sign. We can catch the 7:20 together.
Q: Once I'm in Staten Island, how do I find the Cargo Cafe?
A: Walk out of the ferry terminal and cross the street. Turn left and walk until you see the Cargo Cafe (it's at the 3rd light). There is car service if you'd like.
Q: After this long trip, I will want a drink (and food). What are my choices?
A: There is beer at the ferry terminal - nothing fancy - Bud, Heineken, MGD, sometimes Becks, etc. There is also beer available on the boat. Also availableon the boat are girls with chewing gum and big hair and guys wearing lots of gold chains. Cargo has food and a decent beer selection.
Thanks to Tom for the travel specifics.
If you'd like to complain about tonight's choice, please email me at tech-support@microsoft.com. If you'd like to join us for a once in a lifetime chance to have a beer on Staten Island, meet us tonight at 7:00.
See you there,
- stuart
