Happy Birthday David (today) !!!!
and
Happy Birthday Jim W (Saturday) !!!!
also happy birthday today to Sigmund Freud (1856), Orson Welles (1915), Willie Mays (1931), Bob Seger (1945), and Rudolph Valentino (1895). It's also the day after Cinco De Mayo, so bring your appetite for tequila.
Tonight we'll be heading to Hell's Kitchen and the Landmark Tavern. It's in the middle of nowhere, but hopefully you're used to our exploring nature. We'll be there around 8:30.
This inconveniently located tavern is worth the trek. It attracts a mix of confident, casual, gray-haired theater-goers; auto-repair and sales personnel from the area; and wayward fringers. The tiled floors in the barroom are well-worn, as are the wood planks in the back dining room (through saloon-style swinging doors). (The rooms above were home to the Carly family, which opened the bar in 1868.) A delicious meat and potatoes&endash;style menu, Murphy's and McSorley's Double Dark ale on tap. Hot cider with cinnamon sticks warms your cockles in the cold. &emdash; The New York Bar Guide
See you tonight (bring your cockles),
