Wednesday Pub Night #86 - 8:30 at The View at the Marriott Marquis

Back to the Pub Night home page

Hello everyone,

It's time again for a very special PubNight. After a difficult two weeks of indecision, we have come to the conclusion that, since a special PubNight requires a special place, we should go with something known and appropriate.

For those of you that never heard the story, PubNight has its early roots in an annual New Year's Eve party held at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. This also provided the genesis for the annual Saturday After July Fourth "Marquis" party. So, we'll be returning to the scene of last year's holiday PubNight - the View, on the rotating top floor of the Marquis (see http://www.cat.nyu.edu/piltch/pubnight/pn37jpg/ for pictures from last year).

Since many of you were not there a year ago, here's your opportunity for a classy (and somewhat expensive) PubNight. Since we'll be taking the next few weeks off (unless we want to have a Christmas Eve PubNight at St. Patricks - anyone?), I wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks to all of you for spending your Wednesdays with us. It's been a long year filled with new couples (Jon & Kaethe), new marriages (Athomas & Renee), new cohabitants (Stuart & Laura), new jobs (Kris, Laura, Steve, TK), new humans (Matthew) and, of course, many new friends.

So, bring a friend, bring your wallet, bring a full stomach (no good food there), and bring your thirst. If you haven't been to PubNight in a while and you're not sure if you'll know anyone, this week's the night to show up. We'll make sure you're welcome, make sure you have a drink in your hand, and make sure you don't have to buy a round.

We will be at the revolving bar at the top of the Marriott Marquis from 8:30 on. Go in the front door, take the elevator to the 8th floor, take the escalator to the 9th floor and take the elevator to the 46th floor. Don't go in the restaurant - we'll be in the bar. We'll be

there rotating around Manhattan. Eat before you go and wear something nice (or don't - there's no dress code in the bar).

For those of you looking for something to do tomorrow after work and before 8:30, come by the C3 Lounge (103 Waverly Place, NorthWest corner of Washington Square Park) for the NYU CAT Holiday party. We'll be there from 4pm and we'll probably grab some food there before hopping on the E train to Times Square.

Happy Channukah, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.

Until next year...

- stuart
